Chase's jack-heavy Cryx versus my bombard Khador |
My second game that evening was my first game against Chase Gosingtian and his Cryx force. I've heard he's a formidable player so as always, ace game up front from me.
He showed me some fancy movement shenanigans from his Advance Deployment Satyxis Raiders. Apparently they can be given Desperate Pace, and they can run straight up and engage your Widowmakers (or anything in Advance Deployment directly in front of them) on his turn.
I countered that by having Sorscha cast Freezing Grip on one of the unengaged Satyxis Raiders, allowing my Widowmakers to shoot the Cryx unit up. Sadly, it cost five out of Sorscha's six focus - cost of four, plus one more to boost the casting roll to guarantee it hits.
He got very lucky with Malice after dragging Behemoth up, effectively breaking my big warjack's cortex. The two character jacks slugged it out for the remainder of the game.
In the end, I got to charge Skarre with Sorscha, but the attack and damage was not enough to kill Chase's caster. The Broken Coast's Queen's Great Rack finished off the Khadoran caster promptly afterwards.
