The Khador Gun Carriage taking the objectve |
Playing A Flag Too Far, I decided to use the Butcher2 Gun Carriage force I left over at Schizo just to see if I can fare well against Louie's renowned Stryker1 Storm Surge.
Forces of the Motherland putting pressure on Commander Stryker |
Louie opened up wide, taking advantage of the blind spots the two houses on both flanks provided, and the fact that he had me outnumbered. He had his Storm Lances behind one of the houses, so that made it hostile ground for my Widowmakers - I decided to have them avoid it by repositioning them fully on the opposite flank. Instead of giving away my forces piecemeal, I advanced conservatively, keeping everyone within assist range of everyone else. Of course the advance was directly towards the flags that Louie needs to control.
On his Invincibility turn, I was fortunate to have rolled good for Arcane Dementia. Wasting precious focus on Ravager and Boundless Charge on Butcher2, I soon realized the futility of that attempt against an Invincibility + Arcane Shield Lancer when all the charge damage that went through were on three hull boxes.
Storm Guard made easy work out of the Kayazy Eliminators, while the Arcane Tempest Gun Mages dealt some serious damage to my warcaster. They were clumped so closely together - a very tempting target for Ravager Butcher2 or a trample from the Gun Carriage. Even if Butcher2 had higher MAT, I decided to go for a trample from the Khador Battle Engine, just to see if it can - and it did - dropping three Storm Guard and a Gun Mage after the dust settled down.
In the end, Butcher2 didn't really have enough for a casterkill run, but had enough warm bodies to go for objective win. I managed to drop his numbers low enough to prevent scoring and contesting.
I managed to record some end-turn insights from Louie and myself, but since we were playing under time constraint, we decided to at least do after-battle insights instead. Sadly, the audio on some those were whacked somehow (I was using a Samsung Note). Hopefully I'll get to make better video battle reports later on.

Good game, felt like I did most of the things right... Dice was just really against me... May have something to do with me exposing their secrets with my dice lore post HAHAHAH!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really thought Butcher2 had it in when the ATGM started blasting him up. Just proves that there should be layered contingencies as often as one can make them.
ReplyDeleteButcher2 had his share of it when Lola only dented that damned Lancer's hull.
As for dice juju, I think the best way to train dice is to constantly confuse and confound them - i.e. letting them roll in your hand before tossing them. More often they become victim to vertigo and will lose all control of number generation influenced by personal agenda.
