Kommander Sorscha vs Garryth, Blade of Retribution

I only got to play one game last Saturday, April 21 at Schizo Art Cafe, and it was against Jacky Chan's Garryth, Blade of Retribution. Instead of the Old Witch, I brought a variant of a Sorscha1 list which included the two warjacks of the Khador starter box.  I hoped to demo properly to a new player at Schizo, but due to some domestic issues, he was not able to arrive.

Since he gave me first turn, the battle plan was simple enough - deploy wide and then capture the hill for better vantage point.  That way, he either spreads himself out too thin, or funnel close enough that my AOE's will be maximized.

I had placed Sorscha1 intentionally very near the hill, just in case he does speed in close enough, my warcaster's Icy Gaze would be able to freeze more of his models.

On the way in, the bombards from the pair of Destroyers and two teams of Mortar made my point clear - it's an AOE army alright!  My Man-O-War Kovnik was there to provide Drive to his two marshalled Destroyers, but also close enough to the two Winter Guard Mortar Crew just in case some Mage Hunter Assassins decide to sneak in close.

I gambled to see it Jacky would go for bringing down the Great Bears if I ran the old veterans right in front of his Mage Hunter Strike Force.  I moved Sorscha1 closer to them also, since he might want to pincushion her with Phantom Seeker arrows.

On my right, the two Mortar Crew were easy picking from combined arms from Eiryss2 and Mage Hunter Assassins.

Seeing that Garryth stepped too close for comfort, I decided to go for the kill.

The Mage Hunters in the way were easily cleared by Sorscha1 and the War Dog, who also jumped back to the warcaster so as not to clog up charge lanes.  Casting Boundless Charge on the remaining Great Bears of Gallowswood, their 13" threat range against a frozen (via Sorscha1 feat) Garryth spelled an end to the Blade of Retribution.

The list I brought included Kommander Sorscha, with a Juggernaut as part of her battlegroup, a War Dog attached to her, a Man-O-War Kovnik marshalling two Destroyers, the Great Bears of Gallowswood, and two Winter Guard Mortar Crew.
