Taking advantage of the environment |
Taking the Gun Carriage out of action for the meantime so its paintjob can get some improvement, I decided to use a different list for the Saturday Schizo gaming. My first game that evening was against Jacky, who was getting as many battles as he can with Garryth and his newly-bought Mage Hunter Strike Force.

Boundless Charge on the Behemoth - a glorious sight especially under Winter's Chill |
I used one of my more competitive lists - Sorscha2 with Winter Guard. I think most of the Schizo Boys have fought me using a Winter Guard Death Star already, but I know Jacky hasn't. So to add some dots to Sorscha2 on my tracking list, ace game it is.
Looking at the Retribution force lined up in his deployment, my usual suspects were there that I know needed immediate attention - a pair of Mage Hunter Assassins, and Lanyssa Ryssyll assisting a Dawnguard Scyir marshalling a Griffon. These models I know will get to me fast from unexpected lanes, but usually from a far flank.
The Winter Guard advanced forward under Bob and Weave, with Sorscha2's Desperate Pace and Iron Flesh. I geared up the RNG 14 Winter Guard Rockets to tag the incoming Scyir from my right, and maybe engage a Mage Hunter Assassin on my left with Iron Fang Uhlans. Shatter Storm on the Widowmakers prepared for the Dawnguard Sentinels who I predicted will close in as fast as they can. As a precaution, I kept the Widowmakers behind some woods and just ambush out when the Sentinels are within range. The incoming Banshee would be slowly peppered down with focus-assisted Bombards from the Behemoth.
Jacky's advance on my left had been fortunate for me as an Iron Fang Uhlan got to charge one of his Mage Hunter Assassins. It was more fortunate with his advance on the right - with For The Motherland, the Winter Guard had been able to drop the Scyir with Rockets and the remaining Mage Hunter Assassin with a Blunderbuss Grape Shot.
On his following turn, he had his Eiryss cripple the Behemoth with a Disruptor Bolt and drop a Widowmaker with a shot from his Banshee. His Sentinels ran up to engage the Uhlans on the left, while his Mage Hunter Strike Force riddled the Winter Guard with arrows.
The turn after that, Sorscha2 casted Boundless Charge on the Behemoth and popped Winter's Chill, sending the Khadoran warjack to the damaged Banshee with Armor Piercing fists. A whopping 26 points of damage from that charge rendered the Myrmidon to scrap. The For The Motherland Winter Guard then proceeded to thin down the Mage Hunter Strike Force with Grape Shots.
With a big number of his forces down, Garryth did not have enough to contest the Incursion flags, granting me the win.
