Superiority Behemoth on a hill... nothing is safe... |
This was my first game against Kei Valentin since his return to playing WARMACHINE/HORDES again after a long torpor. We were discussing about a list he wanted to try out involving Haley2 and a catapult trick for a Stormclad, as well as playing without his usual components of Arcane Tempest Gun Mages and Hunter light warjacks.

Winning the First Turn roll, I gave Kei first turn so I can do appropriate counter-deployment. Seeing Eiryss1 and Black 13th on my right and the scenario being Steamroller 2012 Close Quarters, I decided to run a refused flank of sorts to put some pressure on him if he makes an attempt for his control zone.
He ran up Eiryss further forward, safe from any direct ranged attacks because of her Stealth. Putting one focus point on the Behemoth's main cortex, another focus point on his sub-cortex and casting Superiority on it, my main goal was to tag Eiryss1 with a Bombard shot, hopefully not drift too much and boost damage to kill her. First Bombard shot drifted an inch away, and a boosted damage later, Eiryss1 was no more.
Having a second Bombard shot free, I decided to take it against the Black 13th, benefiting from Prowl inside some rough terrain. A lucky deviation made the AOE3 Bombard template land on their heads, but failed to kill any of them.
Following that, it was an exchange of dead Winter Guard versus dead Storm Blade. Some more boosted Bombard attacks from the Behemoth on the hill and supporting rifle fire from Saxon Orrik eventually got to kill two of the Black 13th.
When he moved up his Stormclad and used Electro Leap shenanigans to tag my DEF17 Winter Guard, I knew it had to go. Undying Loyalty online and Battle Lust on the Uhlans failed to destroy i but was successful in dealing some damage to it and tying it up away from my main force.
I did some surgical removal of his entire Storm Blade unit, which forced him to have the jacks do the heavy lifting.
Haley2 moved up, tagging lots of my models with her feat. Failing to do significant damage to my force, having nothing left to deal with my advancing Khadorans, and anticipating combined fire from a still functional Behemoth and For The Motherland Winter Guard, Kei conceded.
Several more discussions ensued after that on the way to Obi's Sausage Fest at Da Shak. Some points enlightened Kei, as well as myself, with better application of the forces.
